City of Santa Barbara Arts Advisory Committee
Established in 1985, the City of Santa Barbara Arts Advisory Committee has seven members appointed by the City Council that make recommendations on cultural arts policy to the City Council. The Arts Advisory Committee meets monthly on the third Thursday at 3:30 p.m. in the David Gebhard room of the City Community Development Building, 630 Garden Street.

Visual Art in Public Places Committee
The Visual Art in Public Places Committee (VAPP) is a standing sub committee of the City Arts Advisory Committee. VAPP provides essential review for public art projects in the City of Santa Barbara and is the link between the Arts Advisory Committee and the City's design review boards (Architectural Board of Review and Historic Landmarks Commission). Members of VAPP are appointed by the City Arts Advisory Committee.

County Art in Public Places Committee
The County Art in Public Places Committee (CAPP) is responsible for the development and implementation of the County Art in Public Places program and manages the County's Percent for Art funds. The CAPP Committee oversees the schedule of the Arts Commission's two galleries – the Betteravia Gallery in Santa Maria and the Channing Peake Gallery in Santa Barbara. Members of the CAPP Committee are appointed by the Santa Barbara County Arts Commission.

Finance/Cultural Development Committee
The Cultural Development Committee, like CAPP, is a standing subcommittee of the County Arts Commission. Members of this committee are appointed by the Arts Commission chair and are responsible for the planning and ongoing administration of the Commission budget in cooperation with Arts Commission staff.

Mission Statement
Formed in 1977, the Santa Barbara County Arts Commission is a 15 member County Commission appointed by the County Board of Supervisors, with three members from each of the five supervisorial districts who make recommendations to the Board on cultural arts policy. The Arts Commission serves as an umbrella for county arts projects, assists communities in raising funds for art programs and provides technical assistance and coordination to arts organizations, artists and local government. The Santa Barbara County Arts Commission is the regional cultural development agency, a State and Local Partner of the California Arts Council and manager of the County Percent for Art Program. The Arts Commission meets monthly on the second Wednesday of each month, at 1:30 p.m., at locations throughout the county.
